History:
The Burlington neighborhood now known as Shoreacres was originally known as Lot 8 – Concession 4 in the former Nelson Township. The British Crown granted this parcel of land to the illustrious Canadian heroine Laura Secord for her service in the War of 1812 and the battle of Lundy’s Lane. In 1990 Shoreacres was threatened with demolition. Thankfully it was saved by generous donors led by the Paletta family whose name is now linked forever with the historic mansion.
Overview:
Shoreacres is a primarily residential neighborhood on the shores of Lake Ontario. The area features several parks and many tree-lined streets.
Lifestyle:
Shoreacres is right next door to the Downtown Burlington shopping district along Lakeshore Road at Brant Street. This quaint shopping area is beautified with cast iron street lamps and hanging flower baskets. There are lots of fashion and home décor shop as well as coffee shops, cafes and restaurants.
