History:
In the 1980s and 90s, north Oakville underwent a dramatic transition from farms to subdivisions. That is when the present day River Oaks neighborhood was developed. River Oaks is a large neighborhood in north-central Oakville, north of College Park. It is a newer neighborhood, developed in the 1990s and early 2000s, with some ongoing development. Housing is mixed, with single detached homes, semi-detached homes, low-rise and high-rise apartments and condos, and townhomes. Some of the developments are denser, and on narrower lots than in other Oakville neighborhoods. A commercial area sits in the northwest corner. Sixteen Mile Creek forms the western boundary, and there are a number of green, wooded spaces and trails.
Overview:
River Oaks is situated north of Upper Middle Road and south of Dundas Street between Trafalgar Road and Sixteen Mile Creek. Riveroaks consists of mainly single-family homes built some 20 years ago. This neighborhood is popular with professionals and young families. In River Oaks, you will find a variety of parks and trail, great schools, two community centers, arenas, swimming pools, and easy access to QEW, 403, 407, and GO Transit.
