A focus for our students is building their developmental assets through curricular and extra-curricular activities. We believe organizations such as our Free the Children Club (Me to We), Student Parliament, Athletic Council (PAC), and Garden Club present our students with opportunities to develop leadership, a sense of social justice, and strong friendships. These groups have supported such initiatives as Scare Hunger, Adopt a Village, and our Outdoor Classroom. Other Extra-curricular opportunities that also support student character development and engagement include primary and senior choirs, band, ukulele club, intramural sports for all ages (run by our PAC), primary building club, Forest of Reading club, running club, and intraschool sports such as volleyball, basketball, cross country, and track and field.
Our School has a strong tradition of parental support. We have a School Council. Our School Council is an advisory body to the administration and the school board and has provided leadership in boundary reviews as well as providing support to parents through educational evenings: in the past two years, they facilitated a presentation with R.O.C.K on Childhood Anxiety and a presentation on Building Resilience in Children. The School Council also fundraises for the school to raise money for the Arts, Phys-ed, Technology, and curriculum support. Their focus this year is on engaging parents and making Pilgrim Wood a welcome place for them to contribute to the community.” As originally published by Pilgrim Wood PS

St. Matthew Catholic Elementary School is an outstanding learning facility, which harvests an environment of harmony and interaction amongst the teachers, staff, students, and parents. St. Matthew Catholic School is also an Extended Immersion school. Education is the key focus of all stakeholders. Through its vast focus on Catholicity, Curriculum, Home-School Communication, Safety, and Community Building, the students of St. Matthew Catholic School are taught the skills they require to grow into productive adults. This sets the stage for their leading a fulfilled life.
The educational experience is not limited to just the classroom. Through the many out-reach programs our children learn to incorporate their Catholicity outside the school setting. We promote peer assistance initiatives (children helping children). Our children learn the lessons of the difference that they made in the lives and education of their peers outside of our school. Children helping children is an idea that displays the power and results of cooperation and generosity.
St. Matthew Catholic School is an inviting place for parents and children alike. Volunteers are always needed and this helps make our school a very friendly place to be. Parent Partners is a committee set up with parents such as you who may be able to find an hour or two several times a month to volunteer in helping make the school a great experience for our children. Let’s not forget volunteerism is what weaves the true color, pride, and character of our community with whom you share common interests. In one word “PARTICIPATION”! When you participate, you feel you’ve taken advantage of the moment. The same applies to school; and your children will feel a stronger bond to their school.” As originally published by St Matthew Catholic ES

“St. Mary Catholic School, named in honor of our Blessed Mother, opened its doors to approximately 325 students on September 5, 2012. St. Mary stands as a reminder of the very first Catholic elementary school to open in Halton. The Halton Catholic District School Board traces its roots back to 1856 when Father Morgan Rex-Ryan and Robyn Smith founded St. Mary’s School – the first Catholic elementary school in Oakville to establish education programs for Catholic children in the town of Oakville. At this time, St. Mary’s school was situated on the grounds of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church on Reynolds Street. The original building was eventually demolished in order to make room for a growing parish community. How very blessed we are to have the opportunity to respect our traditions while creating a brand new Catholic school community.” As originally published by St Mary Catholic ES

[elementor-template id=”30491″][rev_slider alias=”real-estate-2-1″][/rev_slider] View Glen Abbey Oakville Homes For SaleHistory:
In the 1930s wealthy mining executive, Andre Doorman assembled 350 acres of what is now Glen Abbey to create a magnificent country estate. The RayDor manor house is still standing today and forms part of the Royal Canadian Golf Association at the Glen Abbey golf club. In 1953 the RayDor estate was sold to the Jesuit Fathers of Upper Canada as a retreat. In 1963 the Jesuits sold the property to a golf course developer who named the course Glen Abbey in honor of the Jesuits. Ownership of the golf course changed hands a few times before the Royal Canadian Golf Association acquired an ownership stake in the mid-1970s. The RCGA hired golf hall-of-gamer Jack Nicklaus to design a national golf course. The first Canadian Open golf championship was held at Glen Abbey in 1977. Glen Abbey has hosted more Canadian Open championships than any golf course in Canada. Glen Abbey was the impetus for the residential development of this neighborhood that began in the 1980s and culminated in the early 2000s.
The housing in this neighborhood is concentrated between Dorval Drive and just east of the third line. It consists of mostly detached homes built in the 1980-90s interspersed with more recent condo apartment buildings and some condo townhouse developments.
Overview:
Glen Abbey is a large neighborhood located in northwest Oakville and is known for being home to the famous Glen Abbey Golf Club. Glen Abbey was a planned community, developed in the 1980s-1990s. This neighborhood features many green spaces, parklands, and trails, and Fourteen Mile Creek runs through the southwest region. There are also pockets of commercial and shopping areas. Most homes are single-detached, 2-storeys, and there are larger homes on ravine lots, as well as pockets of townhomes and condo high-rises. This neighborhood is a good choice for those looking for a substantial family home on a decent lot. The area includes numerous golf courses including the famed Glen Abbey Golf Course as well as many parks and trails. Glen Abbey boasts easy access to the 403, QEW, 407, and the Bronte and Cross GO train stations.
Homes For Sale:
Fairway Hills is the signature enclave within this Glen Abbey Oakville Real Estate neighborhood. It’s off Dorval Drive, right next to the Glen Abbey golf course. The Glen Abbey golf course is visible from many of the Glen Abbey Oakville homes in this neighborhood.
The streets have golf names like ‘The Links”, “Golfview” and “Masters Green”. Many of these streets turn into cul-de-sacs that abut the golf course. These are the largest houses in Glen Abbey. Most of these homes are Georgian or Tudor revival in style with nicely landscaped front yards and double car garages. The further away from the golf course, the houses are Glen Abbey more modest in size. The majority of Glen Abbey Oakville Real Estate in these neighborhoods are detached two-storey homes but there are also a fair number of townhomes. These Glen Abbey Oakville Homes are typical late 1980s and 1990s subdivision homes with garages at the front. Some infill pockets in Glen Abbey have been developed more recently in the early 2000s.
