Eastlake is the gateway to Oakville and back in the 1830s, Oakville was the gateway to freedom for many African Americans stowed away in grain vessels on ships destined for Oakville harbor. During this time Oakville was also a terminus for the Underground Railroad and was a beacon of freedom for many African-Americans who fled to Canada.
The Eastlake neighborhood is in southeast Oakville, in the very southeast corner, with the shore of Lake Ontario as its southern boundary. It is also known as Ford, Charnwood, and Ennisclare Park. This residential neighborhood features older, detached homes from the 1960s–1970s on good-sized lots. Some of these homes have had renovations, and there are also new builds on established lots and grand lakefront properties. This area offers convenient access to major highways.
The Eastlake name was born out of convenience for real estate purposes. In fact, Eastlake is a conglomeration of small enclaves that are sometimes referred to individually as Chartwell Maple Grove, Morrison, and Ford, which also happen to be the main north-south streets that run through this neighborhood. Eastlake as its name implies is situated in the southeasternmost part of Oakville along the shores of Lake Ontario. Eastlake is one of the most scenic and prettiest neighborhoods in the GTA. The streetscapes are lined with magnificent homes and stately trees.
This neighborhood has many shops, services, and amenities to make your daily errands easy. Some notable places are; 1 Sobeys, 3 Tim Hortons and 1 other coffee shop, 1 Rexall and 3 other pharmacies, 1 Anytime Fitness Oakville and 4 other gyms.
Eastlake has 7 Public schools, and 5 Catholic schools, and 4 Private School in this neighborhood, your kids can get a great education.

Within our community, we support our boys’ learning styles and respect their unique personalities. We are committed to providing an exceptional experience our students will remember and appreciate for a lifetime. We are fortunate to live in a society that continues to seek answers and provide insight into how children develop. Research on brain function has helped to clarify the physical differences of boys and girls, and we may confidently say that boys and girls learn differently and socialize in their own distinct ways. Research also confirms that boys thrive in an all boys’ learning environment.
At Linbrook, we proudly offer a diverse program that allows students to explore their interests and discover their own special talents. We recognize the value of a strong mind, a healthy body and a vibrant spirit. Therefore, in addition to providing a challenging academic curriculum, we also emphasize athletics, visual arts, music, leadership, public speaking and outdoor education. Most importantly, we teach our young men the significance of moral integrity.” As originally published by Linbrook School

“The first St. Vincent School Board was formed at the request of St. Andrew’s Church pastor, Monsignor Priester, in 1959. The children in the east part of the parish had been attending St. Mary’s School situated on what is now the parking lot of St. Andrew’s Church. The Christian name of the Monsignor was Vincent, so that’s why the school was named St. Vincent after St. Vincent DePaul in recognition of Monsignor Priester.” As originally published by St Vincent Catholic ES

“Our school is named after St. Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274) who was a Catholic scholar and theologian. Our school motto is “Aequalitas, Veritas, Excellentia” which translates to “Equality, Truth, Excellence”. St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School, together with home, church, and community, values the uniqueness of each person and is dedicated to life-long learning, personal development, and spiritual growth. Through the cooperative efforts of our staff here at STA, we are excited to be able to offer our students a comprehensive academic program as well an outstanding co-curricular program. Included in our academic program is Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) in Health Care Science/Medical Technologies and the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. We hope this is another example of our ability to offer students a “small school” environment with the benefits of a large school curriculum. Our staff looks forward to providing our students with a unique Catholic learning experience that will prepare them for their post secondary goals.” As originally published by St Thomas Aquinas CSS
