History:
Many of the first settlers hailed from Appleby in Westmoreland, England which is how this neighborhood got its name. Appleby was a prosperous hamlet in the 1800s with many saw and grist mills operating along the creeks that traversed the neighborhood. The community was large enough to warrant the opening of a post office in 1857. Almost one hundred years later Appleby had a school, church, hotel, local businesses, and a community hall. The historic Appleby hamlet has been lost to the passage of time as development encroached on its doorstep however the present-day neighborhood developed in the 1950s and 60s, bears the name of its predecessor.
Overview:
The Appleby neighbourhood is tucked away in the southeast corner of Burlington. It borders on the Town of Oakville to the east of Burloak Drive.The QEW is the north boundary and Lake Ontario is the south boundary. Lakeshore Road follows the Waterfront Trail and features spectacular estate homes on picturesque lots. Burloak Waterfront Park is the main landmark in this neighbourhood. This large greenspce features a pavilion, picnic areas, a waterfront trail and lookouts with spectacular vistas of Lake Ontario. The Appleby Go train and bus station at the north end of the neighbourhood makes this an ideal neighbourhood for commuters.

It has easy access to Appleby GO in 1 rail transit stop and 85 street-level transit stops in the neighbourhood, it’s easy to get around.
